1940s Vintage Americana Arts & Crafts Hitchcock Dining Chairs – a Pair.

This pair of Hitchcock Dining Chairs feature maple seats and black lacquered frames with the iconic botanical flora stencil work on the backrest. Originally designed by Lambert Hitchcock (1795-1852) who opened a furniture factory in Hitchcockville, NY in 1819. He was instrumental in developing mass production techniques for the furniture industry. His Hitchcock chairs were all the rage starting in the mid 1800s. This pair are from the late 1940s and both carry the Hitchcock Furniture makers mark stenciled on the seat backs.
