About the maker
The company was formed in the late 19th century in Manchester by John Dugdill – an electrical engineer. Many of the lamps designed and produced by Dugdills graced workshop machinery such as lathes and illuminated workbenches in their thousands. Even so, they were made to last a lifetime of use and were designed to be beautiful. The earlier variants of Dugdills lamps feature a ‘rosette’ or ‘cog’ tightening wheel at the joint allowing the lamp to be locked into any position. Customers could request their lamps in a variety of finishes including painted, oxy-copper or nickel plated and brass.
