Early 20th century double sided French zinc clock Smiths Trade sign
We are proud to offer a rare example of an early 20th century French double sided clock smiths trade sign. With its original hanging section still in place. One side is more visual than the other. Made from sectioned pieces of hand beaten zinc sheets, constructed to make this three-dimensional sign. A rare model as a pocket watch this example would have originally hung outside a French clock smith likely named Nunes (Nunes is a Portuguese surname, originally a patronymic meaning Son of Nuno. The Spanish variant is Nuñez). This example would make a great interior display hung in a hallway or against a wall.
Dimensions in inches: H 24” x W 18” x D 3.5”
Age: 1910-1920
Material: Zinc
Origin: South of France
Condition: This item is completely solid in structure and form, aging has taken place over all the surface, which is what gives this item its decorative look. Age across the zinc, loss of paint one side more than the other, a square bracket hole to the side is also present to originally hold this item in place against a wall.
