Early 20th Century English Green Transferware Soup Bowl

The Antique English Green Transferware Soup Bowl by Allerton is a delightful piece of history. Charles Allerton was known for producing quality transferware pieces during the 19th century. His wares often featured beautiful scenes, floral motifs, and intricate borders.

The mark, contains a crown, Allertons, ENGLAND and La Belle, the “La Belle”, is the pattern name. We believe this mark dates the item from 1915 thru the 1920’s.

Charles Allerton died around June 1863 and his 4 sons continued the business until approximately 1905 when Charles Allerton’s grandsons became the owners. They owned the company until 1912. In 1912 the company was sold to Cauldon Potties Ltd. who owned the company thru the 1930’s

Green transferware is less common than blue or brown, making this bowl even more special.
