An antique Indian Agra carpet with a weathered appeal from the early 20th century. In the Persian Sultanabad-Mahal style, but with a green field instead of madder red, the gently scalloped straw central medallion pends cartouches and palmettes, while lesser scalloped motives in green and rust, such as octograms and radiating rosettes, float about. This northern Indian city carpet features a beige border with a strongly drawn undulating forked vine. Tonality not available on Persian Mahals or Sultanabads.
