Large Victorian or early Edwardian solid mahogany open armchair of superb quality. This sturdy substantial chair has an unusual cresting rail with curving horns over a lovely shaped baluster silhouette backsplat. Graceful curving arms with crook terminals on swept supports. A large seat pad, freshly upholstered in a pale grey linen. Raised on large cabriole front legs with pad feet and, rather unusually, turned and block rear legs. Joined with turned H-stretchers plus an extra stretcher high on the rear legs for strength. Excellent condition, very comfortable and a conversation piece in its own right.
