What a chair, you will never see another this size and quality again, the base is an absolute tour de force of craftsmanship, the legs are oversized and hand carved as mentioned, the rear legs have the same carving as the front and side panels which shows it was a no expense spared commission
The seat cushion is as mentioned a Thomas Chippendale floating button piece, it is fully upholstered and buttoned on both sides so if the worst should ever happen and the top became stained or damaged, you could simply flip it over
Condition wise the piece has been fully restored to include having the old colour washed back, its then been hand dyed six times, antiqued, sealed waxed down and polished, it has a sublime Victorian look and feel. The base frame has been lightly and traditionally French polished
