Vintage Design
This suspension is a bit of glass processing history. It is Lino Tagliapietra’s fantasy, created when he was at Effetre International. The form is known as Magic and was produced in the 1980s. The piece has a central body in white opaline lined with amber on the inside, surrounded by a loose flap, with 80 twisted filigree rods (mena, in the Murano glass vocabulary). Such fine work and flawless detail. It’s not just a beautiful fixture, it’s a collector’s item. The piece is not made -alla prima- where the shape is opened by hand on a first blowing. There is first a process of placing two vases, one opaline jacketed in amber and one twisted in filigree, which have been joined, passed to the prop to avoid having a mass of glass at the tip, and opened at 63 cm, above the 25 inches.
