Manufacturer: Bitossi for Rosenthal Netter . Designer: Aldo Londi Bitossi Ceramiche is an Italian ceramics company founded by Guido Bitossi in Montelupo Fiorentino, Tuscany in 1921. Guido Bitossi had previously worked for the ceramics company of his family, Manifattura Ceramica Cav. V. Bitossi, which was founded in 1871 in Florence. In 1921, Guido Bitossi decided to start his own ceramics business, which he named “Fratelli Bitossi” (Bitossi Brothers) together with his three sons. The company initially produced decorative household items such as vases, jars and bowls. In the 1950s, Bitossi began to experiment with new techniques and designs, and they became one of the leading companies in the Italian ceramics industry. The company collaborated with some of the most important artists and designers of the period, including Ettore Sottsass, Aldo Londi, and Piero Fornasetti, to create innovative and iconic ceramic pieces. Bitossi was particularly known for its use of bold, bright colors, and its glazes were characterized by their depth and intensity. In the 1960s, Bitossi began to produce more functional ceramic pieces such as tableware, lamps and tiles, which were designed for everyday use. The company continued to innovate and experiment with new designs and techniques, and it became known for its ability to combine tradition and innovation in its products.
