“A little bit of light dispels a lot of darkness!” – Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi. And it’s just a PLUS when you find a light as incredible as this antique Victorian black & gilt floor lamp!! It is comprised of a rather large scale round tapered wood shaft that has been lacquered black with a molded plaster or gesso hexagon base and a rather inverted trefoil plaster gesso capital. Both have been restored and freshly touched up over old chips in the plaster which add a certain charm. Three small screw-eyes under the three arms of the capital, where tassels or crystals would have originally hung, hold large contemporary teardrop pendants which we have added for fun. All of this is topped by the magnificent and monumental off-white silk-like lamp shade, which is the original shade form that has been recovered. We think this shade is somewhat Asian as well as Victorian in style and utterly phenomenal. So, if you are looking for a show stopping floor lamp. You have found it! We absolutely love it! We are calling it Victorian, but it borders on Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and a bit Beaux Arts. And we have added little touches that make it rather Hollywood Regency. Its clean, straight lines and bold presentation will be wonderful in any room that needs a touch of style, flair, and flawless ambience. So, you can pick your style and you can pick where you choose to use it…. just be sure you pick this marvelous lamp…. Make it YOURS!!!!
