Generally antique buffets were made to stand alongside sideboards and serving tables on the walls of a dining room. They are of course incredibly functional with a huge amount of display and serving space. This particular design also has the added feature of a small cupboard to the bottom which can be used to store aware a large amount of unsightly clutter if required.
This buffet is constructed from burr oak, sometimes referred to as pollard oak, which is a hughly decorative timber and retains a lovely warmth to it. As with burr walnut, burr maple, burr yew and any other woods which are constructed with burr veneers the item is much rarer than its counterparts constructed from normal timber as there was simply far less burr veneers available, resulting in it being far more expensive to purchase.
